We took a trip to the plains of Eastern Colorado to try and call in a coyote. The drive takes us a couple of hours, so we decided to take my old pull behind camper. The logical spot to camp was a State Wildlife Area. It was centrally located near most of the private area we hunt. We really coyote hunt a lot of good country out there so we really didn’t take the State Wildlife Area very serious. We joked around and called it a State No Wildlife Area. We thought that there were probably hunters on it all the time. It really wasn’t that big a piece of ground.

We had been really working hard at getting a good solid hunts on film. There wasn’t anything that we didn’t do wrong at least once. You might say we had bruises on our thighs from punching our self in the leg. When everything lined up perfectly on other hunts it seemed like we always made a mistake. We would get so excited that we wouldn’t push record, or just simply throw the camera in the dirt, because we were so afraid that we would miss the coyote.

Scientist have determined that animals, fish and even oysters, are more active during lunar phases. Moon directly over head and the moon directly under foot are the two major influences for movement or activity. There are several other factors that also contribute such as weather to include sun, rain, snow, and wind. There always exceptions to the rules but the lunar tables are a helpful guide to assist you in your hunts.
