Scouting for coyotes can burn up a lot of time and fuel for the coyote hunter. The cost of fuel is making it hard for the outdoorsman to do what he loves. Using Google Earth can be a huge advantage to the hunter. You can easily see how the terrain lays and spot hidden features you may not notice from a vehicle. Looking at the property the night before can also give you and idea of how to use the wind to your advantage. Google Earth has enabled me to do a lot of no cost research that helps me put together some strategy before approaching an unknown property. It has even helped me identify terrain features that I never noticed before.

I Hunt in sothern WI, what is the best call to use at this time of the year?
A friend and I used this Google Map program to locate a stand for a competition hunt. The only thing about it was I didn’t scan the area from all directions and missed the very large ranch house that was very near by and just behind the hill we were on. When I came home after the hunt, I opened up the Google program to see if I could see the house. Sure enough, there it was. The house stood out like a sore thumb on the program. In fact, the front window of the house was so large, I could see it on the Map. But, I missed it by scanning from only one direction and height.
Then, to add to that, when we went there on the day of the hunt, we came onto the property from an angle from which we could not see the posted “no hunting” signs. We could have gotten into some real trouble on that one but luckily he was a coyote hunter himself. It was crazy. Of course you can not see the small signs on the Google map. So be sure to scan the prospective area from all directions, heights, distances, and angles to locate any structures etc that you need to know about and perhaps use.
Using the Google map program was great. Thanks for pointing this out.
